My Favorite teachings from the Bible

In the world of New Thought and Ancient Wisdom, there is often a strong attraction to spiritual teachings from the East—whether it’s the Vedic texts, the Buddha, or even modern spiritual works like A Course in Miracles. And yet, there seems to be an untalked-about, almost unconscious resistance to the teachings of Jesus.

I understand why this happens. Many people carry wounds from harmful cultural or historical experiences associated with Christianity. The language and symbols of the Bible can evoke resistance, making it difficult for some to connect with its profound truths. But we must remember that Jesus himself was not bound by the religion that grew around him. He was a Jew, a revolutionary teacher, and I believe, an ascended master.

Jesus’s ascension is an extraordinary example of spiritual transformation. He said, “Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these.” (John 14:12). His life and teachings make it possible for us to achieve what he did, just as breaking a world record in a race makes it possible for others to follow. In this way, Jesus’s ascension opened the door for humanity to evolve collectively.

If we can move past any past pain or resistance to Christian language, the teachings of Jesus offer some of the most transformative principles for healing, spiritual growth, and the realization of our divine potential. Here are some of my favorite lessons from the Bible, drawn from his teachings and the wisdom they inspire.

1. Be Still and Know: The Power of Inner Truth

    •    “Be still, and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)

This teaching invites us to step away from external distractions and turn inward. In the stillness of our own hearts, we find the divine presence and the clarity we seek.

From a spiritual and coaching perspective, this lesson is foundational. Healing and transformation don’t come from adding something new to ourselves; they come from reconnecting with what has always been there. The entire universe is within us, and when we quiet the mind, we create the space to experience this truth.

2. Faith the Size of a Mustard Seed: The Power of Belief

    •    “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20)

This teaching shows us the immense power of belief. Faith, even in its smallest form, is enough to initiate transformation. It doesn’t require perfection; it requires trust.

In many ways, this principle aligns with quantum theory. The act of belief, like observing a particle, changes reality. When we trust in possibilities, we open pathways for miracles to occur. This is a reminder that transformation begins with the willingness to take even the smallest step in faith.

3. The Call to Transformation: Letting Go of What Is Not Us

    •    “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (Romans 12:2)

Transformation is not about becoming something new; it’s about uncovering who we truly are. Like Michelangelo carving David from the marble, this teaching invites us to let go of the fears, doubts, and false identities that obscure our divine essence.

True transformation requires discernment—a willingness to release what is not in alignment with our highest truth. It is a process of returning to authenticity, allowing the light of God within us to shine.

4. Seek First the Kingdom of God: Prioritizing Inner Work

    •    “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33)

In a world driven by external achievements, this teaching reminds us to prioritize inner alignment. The “kingdom of God” is not a distant place; it is within us. When we focus on spiritual growth and integrity, everything else—success, abundance, fulfillment—flows naturally.

This lesson speaks to the heart of manifestation. When we create from a place of truth and authenticity, the external world becomes an expression of the goodness within.

5. The Nature of Love: A Higher Standard

    •    “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. … Love never fails.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-8)

Love, as described in the Bible, is not transactional or conditional. It is a state of being—patient, kind, humble, and enduring. This teaching reminds us to embody divine love in all aspects of our lives.

When we align with this standard of love, we transcend egoic relationships and connect with the divine in ourselves and others. It is through this love that we find unity, healing, and transformation.

6. The Power of Faith in Action

    •    “Faith without deeds is dead.” (James 2:26)

Faith is not merely a belief; it is an active force. This teaching calls us to embody our faith through action, aligning our lives with the principles we hold true.

This is a reminder that manifestation requires both inner alignment and outward effort. Faith in action bridges the gap between the unseen and the tangible, transforming vision into reality.

7. The Path of Blessedness: True Inner Power

    •    “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.” (Matthew 5:5, 5:8)

The Beatitudes challenge our conventional ideas of power and success. They teach that true strength lies in humility, purity, and innocence.

Innocence, in this context, is not naivety—it is the ability to see the world with new eyes, free from cynicism and judgment. This inner power creates ripples of transformation, offering a model of leadership and influence that uplifts rather than divides.

8. Forgiveness and Grace: Releasing the Past

    •    “Forgive, and you will be forgiven.” (Luke 6:37)

Forgiveness is a profound act of liberation. It allows us to release resentment and the energetic weight of past wounds, freeing ourselves to move forward.

This teaching also speaks to oneness. When we forgive others, we recognize that they acted out of ignorance, and we take full responsibility for our emotional and spiritual well-being. Forgiveness is not about condoning harm; it’s about breaking the cycle of pain and choosing love over fear.

Conclusion: Timeless Lessons for Transformation

The teachings of the Bible offer a profound roadmap for transformation, healing, and alignment with divine truth. They invite us to prioritize inner work, cultivate faith, and embody love and forgiveness in all we do.

What resonates most deeply about these lessons is their universality. Beyond any religious context, they speak to the shared human journey of uncovering who we are and stepping into our divine potential. By embracing these teachings, we align not only with our own growth but with the collective evolution of humanity.
